Bond slave for Christ

Exodus  21:6 Then his master shall bring him unto the judges; he shall also bring him to the door, or unto the door post; and his master shall bore his ear through with an aul; and he shall serve him for ever.

Praise the Lord!!

Today we will meditate upon bond slaves. Israel had a set rules for bond slaves. Deuteronomy chapter 21 discuss about bond slaves and how they need to act.

Requisite of a bond slave

1. A bond slave would have no right to speak, he needs to follow instructions from his master.
2. He does not have the right to live on his own.
3. If the bond slave is an Hebrew then he will serve for 6 years and 7th year he will be free. If he brings his wife they will go with him.
4. If his master gave him a wife then he will go free, but his wife and children will stay.

It might sound really cruel because being a bond slave means devoid of all rights, freedom and complete dependence on the earthly master.

Sometimes the master would be cruel and would ill-treat the slaves like their own property. There would be at times when they injure or probably these bond slaves would die out of ill-treatment.

Matthew  11:29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew  11:30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Now let's compare with the bond slave with Christ as a master.

Yoke is put upon ox who do not subject themselves to the commands of the master. In general ox would have to go through lot of pain and struggle to have the yoke.

But Lord Jesus says His yoke is easy. We have a Lord who put the yoke on us to give rest to our souls.

A bond servant of Christ.
1. Receives rest for his soul.
2. Receives deliverance from all his affliction.
3. Receives healing from all diseases.
4. Receives eternal life to be with his master.
5. Receives joy, peace and love daily from his master.

Saints let's yearn to be yoked under the mighty hand of God. Today as you hear the words don't harden your hearts but submit to his calling.

Paul's says.

Philippians  1:13  So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

2 Timothy  2:9  Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

His undying love for Christ helped him to suffer all the persecution with a smile as he said For me living is Christ and dying is gain.

God bless
