Overlaid with Glory

Exodus  25:13 And thou shalt make staves of shittim wood, and overlay them with gold.

Praise the Lord!!

Today we will meditate upon this wood called Shittim. When I was meditating this verse struck my attention. I wondered why did God choose this wood to make a esteemed peice of work. Ark of the covenant, they could have used lots of other woods. As they were traveling. God could have commanded to collect the choicest wood to make the Ark.

Let's understand this wood.
1. Shittim wood grows in desert.
2. Thorny in nature.
3. Always tossed by wind.
4. Hard to get the right size for cutting.
5. Rough and unfinished.
6. Dark in colour, not appealling.
7. Not good for making furniture.

What a wonderful God we have!! The wood which is rejected, tossed, unappealing, of no good to anyone. God chooses that wood overlays with gold and makes it a prestigious wood of that time. I might sometimes wonder when the wood would speak to themselves, they would have chided upon Shittim saying we adorn the furniture of rich and famous and you are good for nothing.

No!! God has a plan for each one of you. O precious saints when you are tossed and broken down, when you feel that there is no way. God says I am the way, truth and life.

Isaiah  43:18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.

Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

Notice God chose a wood which is tossed by wind, how specific he is choosing a vessel for his Glory.
He overlays with gold so that all the unappealing colour is hidden. Likewise when you come to Jesus, he overlays you with his glory all the pain, bitterness, ugliness, torment are covered in his glory.

Saints come to him today, don't harden your heart. Give your heart to him he will surely make a way for you.

God bless
